Visitors to the 2018 George Washington Whiskey Rebellion Fest, brought to you by the Community Trust Foundation, will be able to taste Dad’s Hat Rye Whiskey.
Dad’s Hat, hailing from Bristol, PA is the first rye whiskey made in the state of Pennsylvania since 1989.
Dad’s Hat offers Classic Rye, White Rye, Port Finish, and Vermouth Finish whiskies. All are made in the traditional Monongahela-style, high rye content and no corn. The mash is comprised of local Pennsylvania grains: 80% rye, 15% barley malt, and 5% rye malt. It is aged in white oak quarter-casks between 6 to 9 months.
The aroma is quite robust and spice filled, both from the grain and the wood. There are hints of cherry juice and caramel as well. The finish is quite dry.
Dad’s Hat Rye won Craft Whiskey of the Year in 2015, and was a James Beard Awards semifinalist in 2017.
Your ticket to the Fest entitles you to sample Dad’s Hat, along with offerings from a dozen other whiskey, gin, brandy and vodka producers, and craft beers from Terrapin, Dogfish Head, Antietam, and Stone.
You will enjoy live Colonial games, mingle with re-enactors, get souvenir photos, and take home a goody bag. Enjoy the open beer and wine bar, and continuous delicious canapes by Good Carma. All at Allegany Museum, 3 Pershing St Cumberland. Opens on Friday June 8, 6-10pm.
